Germany: The Ulm Cathedral (Ulmer Münster) - Climbing the tallest steeple in the world.

The Ulm Cathedral (Ulmer Münster) is the tallest church in the world. Its steeple measures 161.53 m (530 ft) and contains 768 steps. This church is not a cathedral but a Lutheran church; there has never been a bishop. In 1377 the foundation stone was laid. The master builder was Ulrich Ensingen, who also was one of the architects of the Strasbourg Cathedral. It was his plan to make the western church tower the tallest spire of the world, which it is to the current day. The construction of the building took a very long time. In 1890 the building finally was completed. It is an example of gothic architecture. [ voir sur Youtube.com ]
