TRADERS fear that higher parking charges for anyone without a HillingdonFirst card will drive shoppers away from Northwood. Since Monday, motorists who live outside the area have had to pay almost 25 per cent more to park, whereas residents of the borough of Hillingdon are paying the same rates as before. Last October, the Gazette reported that people living in Eastbury - the Three Rivers Council part of Northwood - feel that the card scheme, which offers discounts only to Hillingdon residents, is unfair, because it forces them to pay more to use facilities in their own town. Northwood's marketing students join the war against melanoma

When Maggie Biggane, Mollie's mother, heard from Northwood Marketing Department Chairman Fred Honerkamp — himself a melanoma survivor — that his students had chosen melanoma awareness as their year-long project, she saw to it that the college received packets of educational materials, including "Practice Safe Sun" DVD lesson plans for teachers. The Northwood Farmers Market loves to showcase local entertainers, musicians, storytellers and the like. Special night: Northwood students raise money for SO athletes

Circle K International hosted its first ever wheelchair basketball event at the Bennett Center at Northwood University to promote student involvement on campus last night, and all the proceeds went to benefit Special Olympics of Midland County and its upcoming state competition at Central Michigan University. Eight different campus organizations participated in the event and paid to play wheelchair basketball, and those who wanted to see the three basketball games gave a donation to get into the event.
